Nixetrin® 1%
Permethrin Shampoo
Nixetrin shampoo 1% has been prescribed by your doctor to help you get rid of head lice and crab lice. These are very tiny bug – like animals that may have caused you discomfort and itching. When used properly, Nixetrin shampoo will work. But, you need to be careful to follow these directions exactly if you are the one using Nixetrin shampoo, or if you are supervising the use of Nixetrin for a child. Here are the general directions for its use but, if your doctor has given you other directions, follow those directions carefully.
Before you use Nixetrin shampoo:
-Children must not apply Nixetrin shampoo without adult supervision.
-Do not leave Nixetrin shampoo on hair for more than 10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
-Do not take Nixetrin shampoo internally.
-Keep Nixetrin shampoo away from mouth and eyes.
-Do not use Nixetrin shampoo if there are open wounds, cuts, or sores on the skin – unless your doctor specifically tells you to.
-When removing nits (eggs) use a nit comb or tweezers.
-Avoid unnecessary contact with your skin if you are applying shampoo to another person. If treating more than one person the person applying Nixetrin shampoo ( especially pregnant and / or nursing women) should wear rubber gloves.
-All recently worn clothing, underwear and pajamas, used sheets, pillow cases, and towels should be washed in very hot water or dry cleaned.
-Do not use oil treatment or oil – based hair dressings or conditioners immediately before or after applying Nixetrin shampoo.
- Do not reapply Nixetrin shampoo if itching continues after first use. Itching after application of Permethrin shampoo may not be due to lice but may be a normal sensation after successful treatment. Do not reapply without first obtaining the advice of your doctor.
- Do not reapply Nixetrin shampoo because you may think that ″ more is better.″ Additional Permethrin applied beyond the recommended amount may be harmful.
- Permethrin can be poisonous if not used properly.
How to use Permethrin shampoo:
1-shampoo hair with your regular shampoo rinse (no conditioner) and dry hair thoroughly.
2-Shake well.
3-If you have short hair apply 1/2 bottle on scalp (no water); 3/4 bottle for medium- length hair and a full bottle for long hair.
4-Work thoroughly into hair and leave on hair for ten(10) minutes.
5-After 10 minutes add small amount of water gradually and work into a good lather.
6-Immediately rinse thoroughly.
7-Avoid unnecessary contact of lather with other areas of your skin.
8-Remove nits (eggs) using a nit comb or tweezers.
